Final project...

So I shot my final last Wednesday. I said before that I was going to do some sort of giant octopus head thing, but those ended up being crap. So we thought about how we could genuinely recreate a Gregory Crewdson photo.

I thought about how he brings light in, from many different places. He also seems to make the viewer wonder about what is taking place in the photograph. He definately leaves the viewer to use their own imagination.

here are two examples of Gregory Crewdson's work.

So after we trashed the octopus idea, we chose to take our set into my garage. Being around 1am in the morning and in december, it was quite cold out. So the hardest part, was for my models to stand perfectly still. We chose to bring in light from 2 places. The window, and the attic. I also added in those damned red feathers for good measure, and to make the picture more interesting and surreal. Why is he holding red feathers? You figure it out.

Unfortunately the photos look much much better when they are blown up and printed. The internet is not the best way to view these. and comments are always welcomed.

and somehow they got chopped in half. lame.

shoot tonight....

I have to shoot my final project tonight. I was really stressed about it, but decided that I am gonna do whatever I want. I know Im supposed to reshoot my "red feathers" photos, but Im through with that idea. It didn't work the first time. I'll just keep that idea in storage somewhere for the future. So we are thinking of doing another crazy idea; a lot like the robot and pidgeon guy. Although, Katie has built some sort of giant octopus. Im kind of looking forward to it. Im gonna incorpoate some red feathers; just for good measure though. Hey what can I say? My teacher told me to think Gregory Crewdson.

It obviously wont alot like what he does, but Im trying to give him "out of the box". That seems to be what he wants.
Here's a few photos from Bonnaroo 2008.

Pidgeon Boy & Squat Bot...

As I was talking about before; here are the pidgeon boy and squat bot photos. Just a random idea we threw together. I was pretty impressed with the outcome.

CK, heroine sheik, pancakes, and icing...

So for one of my most recent assignments in advanced commercial photography class, my
teacher had us choose 4 pieces of paper out of a coffee mug. My group randomly chose Calvin Klein, Heroine Sheik, Pancakes, and Icing.
Then he had us put all of that together into an ad. I felt CK and heroine sheik went together really well. I wanted my photos to look really bleached out, gritty, and seedy. I know the one with her standing doesnt really match the others, but I liked it.

Sergeant Cloud...

Ok so here is a band that I really dig. Sergeant Cloud. Maybe its because Ive known the singer (Aaron Curry) since he was born, or maybe its the different sound they have compared to other local bands. This is the same night they played at Bora Bora Club with Roe Sham Beau and others.

Roe Sham Beau...

Here is a band that I just recently came into contact with. Roe Sham Beau. Nice fellows I must say. I met the singer about a month ago, when me and my buddy Aaron decided to make a mockumentary, and then a photoshoot containing a robot and a pidgeon boy (but Ill post that later.)
Anyways Roe Sham Beau is pretty badass. They remind me of Brian Setzer on acid. This is a show they played at the Bora Bora club on 11.29.08 with Sergeant Cloud, The Electric Primadonnas and The Candy Guns.

The Boom Bang...

The next is The Boom Bang, who played the same night with Mayola at VZD's. This was quite an entertaining night; filled with stories of haunted houses/cellars and cold, pitchers of smithwick's. Mmmmm... Smithwick's...

Mayola...

So earlier I finished editing 4 diferent bands that I've shot in the past 2 weeks. Here is Mayola. From Stillwater, OK. This was a show they played at VZD's with The Boom Bang on 11.21.08.
